The Way of Discernment: How to Hear God's Voice  (12 week course)  
How are we to live our lives thoughtfully and faithfully amid all the options, distractions, and decisions that characterize modern life? Discernment, the Christian practice of seeking God’s call in the midst of the decisions that mark one’s life, may very well be the single most important Christian spiritual practice for dealing with this contemporary dilemma.  We will explore and discuss biblical models of the practice of discernment as well as learning more contemporary Christian modalities that help us discern God’s voice. Each participant will choose a question or issue to present before the Lord as we practice the call to be more discerning disciples of Christ. 
 
Spiritual Practices: Spiritual Formation for Growth and Intimacy (12 week course)
What is spiritual formation? What dynamics are involved in being formed into the image of Christ? This course seeks to address such questions and to be both informational and formational as it does so.
Students will be introduced to and practice various spiritual disciplines that have been a part of our Christian heritage throughout history. These disciplines are designed to deepen our appreciation for our faith and to help us mature into the image of Christ. It includes, theory and practical application of various prayer modalities including but not limited to Lectio Devina, Christian meditation and contemplation, and the Prayer of Examen. Students will consider ways in which to incorporate the use of one or more of these modalities in their own spiritual journey as well as gain a repertoire of resources on which to draw for years to come.
